We miss Jim terribly, still can’t quite believe we’ll never see him. Lucky Roger and me!!!: We got to spend so many double dates with Jim and Louise!! Movies and meals usually in Bethesda – and Jim always relaxed and enthusiastic about what we just saw and/or what we were eating. Catching up on what all our kids were up to – and grandkids! In fact Ella is nearly the same age as my first grandchild, Zoey (born March 14, 2011).
Maybe 7 years ago, we met in San Miguel de Allende and spent a lovely week together – sunny visit in the middle of a Washington winter. Weeks after returning, Jim presented us with a DVD he made, complete with great photos he’d taken of all of us – set to music!
Because Jim was so into football, he was a completely thrilled cheerleader, keeping up with my NFL player/son-in-law, Quinton Jefferson. He was the first person to call me when Q was drafted in 2016 and for years, and often filling us in on what he read about Q’s defense career spanning 5 different teams.
Soooo laid back and easy going, I can see Jim easily handling diplomatic problems.
Jim’s love of his daughters, Romy, Michael and ALL grandchildren – was spelled out each time we met Jim … letting us know about a grandson’s first job, Sandra’s restaurant management responsibilities, Lisa’s incredible career trajectory, plus the amazing cooking taking place at 6334 including Michael’s meals and the creative cooking the grandkids were presenting.
Love to ALL of you!!
